Story by Brandon Steinert
The Barton Community College Music Department is excited to announce the spring 2016 musical, “The Addams Family: A New Musical,” by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice.
The show is set for 7:30 p.m. on March 4 and 5 with a 2 p.m. matinee March 6.
Auditions are open to everyone and will be held at 7 p.m. November 29 and 30 in the Barton Fine Arts Auditorium. Characters include Grandmama, Lurch, Uncle Fester, Morticia, Gomez, Pugsley and Wednesday.
According to Barton’s Director of Choral Activities Vern Fryberger, the musical “features an original story, and it’s every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. A man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, she confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before — keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.”
The musical is based on characters created by Charles Addams. Music and Lyrics are by Andrew Lippa.
