Agriculture is a huge part of our local life, and the Shafer Gallery is using that as the theme for its first annual “Family Day,” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 10 in the Gallery.
There is no cost for admission, but attendees are encouraged to register by contacting Shafer Gallery Director Alyssa Bliven at blivena@bartonccc.edu or (620) 792-9342.
Bliven said she wanted to showcase the Gallery and focus on a topic that is relatable to all residents from the surrounding communities.
“Family Day is set to be an exciting event focused on agriculture and farming, featuring a mix of art, activities, and presentations,” she said. “It will offer a unique opportunity for attendees to explore and appreciate the world of farming through various engaging experiences.”
The event coincides with the Gallery’s current exhibit, "American Pastoral,” which features a collection of “Agrarian Art” that highlights the beauty and historical significance of the American agricultural landscape. The exhibit was recently added to the college’s permanent collection via a generous gift by Agrarian Art enthusiasts Mark and Carol Moseman made through the Barton Foundation.
The Shafer Gallery is on summer hours now and is open Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is always free. To learn more about the gallery, visit shafergallery.bartonccc.edu.
