The Shafer Art Gallery at Barton Community College will host a free opening reception from 4-6 p.m. Nov. 13 for an exhibition featuring the work of sculptor Glenn Zweygardt and painter Michael Jilg. The exhibition will run through Dec. 12.
The exhibition brings together two artists with distinct creative approaches, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the relationship between material, form, surface, and image through sculpture and painting.
Zweygardt's sculptures and Jilg's paintings will provide visitors with an opportunity to experience two different artistic mediums in one exhibition and consider how artists use materials and visual elements to express their ideas.
Shafer Art Gallery Director Jenna Harbaugh said the exhibition offers a unique opportunity to appreciate the creativity and artistic accomplishments of two established artists with ties to Kansas.
"Both artists have developed distinctive styles throughout their careers, and bringing their work together creates an interesting conversation between sculpture and painting," she said. "We are excited to share their work with our community and give visitors an opportunity to experience the different ways artists use materials, textures, and imagery to communicate their ideas."
The opening reception is free and open to the public.
The Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information about the exhibition, visit shafergallery.myportfolio.com.
