Barton Foundation participating in #GivingTuesday on Dec. 1

Barton Automotive Technology student Ashley Revel knows full well the tremendous benefits derived from the Barton Foundation. As a scholarship recipient for the 2015-16 school year, her dream to make a living as a certified mechanic is being realized.

“Thank you so much for helping me to further my education,” she wrote in a thank you note to the scholarship donor, Dove Buick Chevrolet Cadillac. “I’ve looked into going back to school for a long time, but with two kids, now 12 and 9, that goal had been a distant one.”

Revel intends on earning Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification, associate in applied science degree and eventually a master’s degree. She currently works in the automotive department at the Great Bend Walmart.

Revel is one of many students able to attend school thanks to scholarships provided through the Barton Foundation, but there is still a significant need for more. In an effort to build awareness and help more students, the Barton Foundation is participating in #GivingTuesday on Dec. 1, a national campaign localized by the Golden Belt Community Foundation and local participating nonprofits.

Barton’s goal is to raise $10,000, the amount needed to establish an endowed scholarship, which perpetually funds students’ education from investment earnings every year, forever.

About Giving Tuesday

We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

It’s a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Join us and be a part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity.
