Barton Theatre will hold open auditions for its fall production “Our Town” from 4-8 p.m. Aug. 22 and 23 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Those wanting to audition can show up anytime during the allotted hours on either night. The Theatre Department will be casting all roles and all technical positions. Scripts are available for checkout in the Fine Arts Office. For character descriptions and play summary, please go to theatre.bartonccc.edu.
“Our Town,” often referred to as this nation’s greatest play, is a 1938 three-act play by American playwright Thornton Wilder. It tells the story of the fictional New England small town of Grover's Corners between 1901 and 1913 through the everyday lives of its citizens. The universal themes are community, family, romance, respect and living each day to the fullest.
Barton Theatre Director Dr. Rick Abel said he will be casting 25 actors of various ages and that many roles are brief.
“I’m looking for a good mix of students, faculty, staff and community members to audition,” he said.
