Story by Micah Oelze

The Barton Planetarium will host three showings of the annual holiday show “Star of Bethlehem” at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. December 10 in the Barton Community College Planetarium in the Science Building.

The show will teach audiences about the origin of the star and how it played into the story of the “Christ Child.” The presentation will answer questions like: ‘Who were the wise men? Were there just three? Did they come from Persia, Babylon or Ethiopia? Did they follow a visible star to Jerusalem?’ and more.

“A holiday show at the planetarium is a long-standing tradition,” Planetarium Director Dr. Tim Folkerts said. “Every year it seems someone tells me ‘I remember coming out here as a kid and watching a Christmas show like this.’”

Dr. Folkerts will host the presentations and will be available to answer questions following the show. Reservations are not required and admission is free.
