Barton Community College will host a screening of the documentary “Storm of Passion” March 22 at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium; a live panel discussion will follow the event featuring members of the Storm of Passion volunteer storm-chasing team.
Admission to the screening is $8 per person, with proceeds being split to support both the STEM Club and the dedicated storm chasers who volunteer their time and expertise to track severe weather.
The documentary provides an in-depth look into the power of nature, following storm chasers as they navigate extreme conditions in pursuit of meteorological discoveries and public safety awareness. Audience members will be able to engage directly with the team behind the film during the post-screening discussion.
In addition to the screening, attendees can see the iconic Tornado Intercept Vehicle 2 (TIV2) up close, a specialized armored vehicle designed for storm chasing. Also on display will be props from the 2024 storm-chasing film “Twisters,” offering a unique glimpse into both real-life and Hollywood portrayals of severe weather tracking.
The event is open to the public, and tickets can be purchased at the door. For more information, contact Barton Instructor of Chemistry Amanda Alliband at allibanda@bartonccc.edu or (620) 792-9330.
