Barton Community College’s Center for Adult Education will soon begin its nine-week GED Preparation Class with a new orientation schedule and attendance policy.
Students are now required to attend all three orientation classes March 12-14, and the first day of class on March 15. Failure to attend all four days will result in removal of the student from the program.

The musical comedy ‘whodunnit’ parody “Curtains” is set to premiere at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 9 at the Barton Community College Fine Arts Auditorium. The community will have two more chances to catch the show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 10 and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 11.

Inspired by actual events, “8 Days” tells a story about 16-year-old Amber Stevens who goes missing. She is forced into the world of sex trafficking while her family and community fight to get her back.
Barton will host two showings of the film, March 12 at 6 p.m. in the lower level of the Student Union and March 14 at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
Advocates from the Family Crisis Center will be present at both viewings with information and available to speak with individuals.

Barton Community College will offer a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) refresher course 8 a.m.-5 p.m. March 20-21 in the Adult Healthcare Lab, T-119.
This 15 contact-hour course is approved by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) for a Kansas CNA who has gone inactive and wishes to reactive their credential. It is a state requirement to pass a refresher course to reactivate CNA credentials.

“You can’t have a better return [on investment] than knowing you are responsible for giving our future generation the tools they need to succeed and receive the education they require for their success,” Jim said.

Barton Community College has named 262 students to the Dean’s List for the fall 2017 semester. To qualify for this honor, students must have been enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours and maintained a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.99 on a 4.0 or "A" letter scale.

The Shafer Gallery will hold an opening reception on March 9 at 6:30 p.m. for its latest exhibit, Exegesis: Portraits of the Spirit, featuring works from Rev. Richard Vettel-Becker and Luis Mario Figueroa. The opening reception will feature gallery talks by the artists and refreshments for the attendees.
