The proceeds of nearly 200 items sold, underwriters, program ads and ticket sales netted more than $45,000 at the 38th Annual Big Benefit Auction in late August. The funds benefit students directly through scholarships and program enhancements.

Executive Director of Institutional Advancement Coleen Cape said she was excited to have exceeded the auction goal by more than $5,000 and is grateful for the community’s generous nature.

Barton employees Mark Radenberg and Allan Collins, who work with inmates at Ellsworth Correctional Facility (ECF), were named the Outstanding Non-Uniform Employee and Outstanding Contract Employee of the Quarter, respectively, August 22 at an awards ceremony in the Statehouse, where they were greeted by Gov. Sam Brownback and other state officials.

Barton Community College and the Center for Adult Education will be closed and there will be no classes in observance of Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 5.  Offices will reopen and classes will resume on Sept. 6.
