The Shafer Art Gallery staff hosted a fun-filled afternoon for the Kansas State Department of Education Teacher of the Year nominees last Tuesday in the Gallery consisting of a personalized tour and an art project activity.

Barton's Academic Development Center supports all students of Barton Community College as they develop the skills needed to find success in the classroom. In the ADC, an academic coach can help students learn about the expectations of a college course, develop study skills and time management skills, and/or connect with campus resources. The Center is also open daily for student study space, and regularly hosts student seminars on topics like note taking, academic planning, and developing study groups.

The Shafer Art Gallery will unveil its next exhibit “Figure/Ground” by Kevin Kelly with a reception at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 20 in the Gallery, which will feature a short artist talk, comments by the director and light refreshments. The exhibit runs through Feb. 25 and admission is free.

The Barton Community College Library will team up with the English department and Barton’s literary annual “Prairie Ink” staff to host a “Getting Started Writer’s Workshop” from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Jan. 26 in the Cavanaugh Ballroom, in the Barton Library.
