Four students from Barton Community College in the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society were recognized as members of the PTK All-Kansas Academic Team during an award luncheon Friday at the Courtyard by Marriott in Junction City, where the tremendous opportunities afforded to students by the community college mission were on full display.
Barton Community College has a multitude of musically gifted faculty and staff members and several of them will perform at an intimate concert at 4 p.m. April 9 at the Santa Fe Trail Center 1349, K156 Highway in Larned (two miles east of Larned).
The Barton Community College Instrumental Music Department will present a tribute to popular music in the United States spanning several decades titled “The Great American Songbook,” at 7:30 p.m. April 22 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

Monday, April 4 – Cavanaugh Room in the Learning Resource Center (LRC), 5-6 p.m. Open Support Group: Support Groups offer the opportunity for friends and acquaintances of Kai to gather in a therapeutic group format to discuss and support one another in their shared loss.
The Barton Music Department will present a choral concert titled “A Reason to Sing,” at 7:30 p.m. April 12 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
As of March 22, the area of extreme drought that covered most of Barton and part of Stafford County shrank a bit and moved back to severe status and drought ranging from moderate to exceptional still covers the western two-thirds of the state in spite of recent moisture.
Lizard & art enthusiasts alike can carve their very own ceramic chameleon as The Shafer Gallery and the Barton Art Department sponsor a ceramics workshop titled “Lovin’ Lizards: A Workshop with Kathy Robb,” as part of the “Human Nature” exhibit from 12 to 4 p.m. April 1 in the Shafer Gallery.
Potential students will have an opportunity to gear up for the fall semester during Barton’s popular “Enrollment Day” sessions, which start on April 12 and will continue throughout the summer.
