This column was written before the Drought Monitor was released but based on the weather, it shouldn’t have changed much. While the area is in okay shape, some moisture would be beneficial.
Barton’s History of Dance class will present "Dancing Around the World" at 7 p.m. Nov. 30 in Studio 34, which is in the Sunflower Housing Unit at the southeast end of campus. This is a free event, but cash donations are greatly appreciated to support the Dance Department.
Barton Community College has released the 12th edition of its literary journal “Prairie Ink.”
The Barton Community College Theatre Department will hold principal auditions for its spring musical “Mamma Mia!” from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 7 and 8 in the Fine Arts Auditorium for ages 15 and up.
As of November 16th drought conditions are essentially unchanged for the state and the cooler conditions should keep it that way. The six to ten-day outlook (November 24 to 28) indicates we are on the line between normal and slightly above normal temperatures and normal to below normal precipitation.

Brian McClendon, CEO of CVKey Project, and creator of Google Earth and Google Maps, will be the keynote speaker at the 17th Annual Jack Kilby Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Day (JKSD) from 10:15-11 a.m. Nov. 22 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. His speech is free and open to the public.
Barton Community College will be closed for Thanksgiving break Wednesday, Nov. 24, through Friday, Nov. 26. The college will resume its regular schedule on Monday, Nov. 29.
