Barton Community College will offer transitioning Fort Riley Soldiers, and family members with DOD ID cards, a grant-funded two-week certificate program at no cost to participants.
The Hazardous Waste Worker (HWW) program gives Soldiers credentials to help them find work after their tenure in the US Army ends. The next course is set from Nov. 26 through Dec. 7 at 100 Continental Ave, Grandview Plaza, which is just north of I-70 at exit 299.

The Barton Theatre Department will host a play-writing workshop from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 3 in the Fine Arts Auditorium to kick off its Third Annual Original Play Series, in which three original plays will be chosen and produced in the spring.
Playwright Rob Munden will present the workshop and help attendees of all skill levels work on their projects in a welcoming environment.

Barton Community College will host a blood drive from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26 in the Technical Building in room T-186, the Case New Holland Training area.

The first Barton Community College Student Recital of the school year will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, October 25 in the Dorothy Moses Morrison Chapel, located in the Fine Arts Building, F-157. The recital is free and open to the public.
Michael Fahrney is making a comfortable living as a feed delivery driver for Great Bend Coop, but only a couple years ago his path in life didn’t look as bright. He had been struggling with drug abuse, jumping from one job to another.
