Barton Community College will offer a grant-funded two-week certificate program at no cost to transitioning Fort Sill Soldiers and family members with Department of Defense ID cards.

The Hazardous Waste Worker (HWW) program gives Soldiers credentials to help them find work after their tenure in the US Army ends. The next course is set from June 18-29 at Truman Education Center B3281 on post.

The Barton Theatre Department will hold open auditions for its summer production of the comedy one-acts “The Proposal” and “The Bear” by Anton Chekhov from 4-6 p.m. June 12 and 13 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. The Theatre Department is looking to cast four males and four females who are 25-60 year’s old. Those who wish to audition may show up during the allotted hours on either night. No preparation or experience is necessary.

Graduates from 10 colleges of the Fort Riley Education Services Consortium gathered Thursday afternoon to celebrate the end of a chapter in their educational journeys. Despite the spacious venue, a large conference center ballroom at the Hilton Garden Inn in Manhattan, it was standing room only. And, the air was electric with the energy from the graduates and their families ready to hear their name and achievement announced from the podium.
