Barton Community College will host a “Meet and Greet” for its new Executive Director of the Foundation Nancy Wiebe at 2:30-4 p.m. July 30 at Great Bend Coffee Company, 2015 Lakin Ave. in Great Bend. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend.

Barton Community College in Great Bend, Kan. has named 226 students to the President’s List for the spring 2015 semester. To qualify for this honor, students must have been enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours and maintained a grade point average of 4.0 on a 4.0 or "A" letter scale.

Barton Community College in Great Bend, Kan., has named 279 students to the Dean’s List for the spring 2015 semester. To qualify for this honor, students must have been enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours and maintained a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.99 on a 4.0 or "A" letter scale.

Wheat 2015 & Terminology
Before the rain Thursday night, wheat harvest was running full throttle and overall a much better crop than was predicted. The forecast indicates everyone should be back in the field soon if they aren’t already (depending on the rainfall received). A few were commenting their crop would have been better except for late season disease pressure. What happened? Several things.

Heike Arrowood didn’t let obstacles stop her from pursuing her educational goals; she smashed through them. Fueled by her desire to succeed and a jumpstart from Barton Community College, she now holds the highest level of academia attainable in the nursing field— a doctorate.
