The drought monitor report as of Tuesday, November 15, indicates the same drought conditions as last week and the snowfall wasn’t enough to change things. 

Barton Community College will be closed for Thanksgiving break Wednesday, Nov. 23, through Friday, Nov. 25. The college will resume its regular schedule on Monday, Nov. 28.

The Central Kansas Community Choir (CKCC) will perform its “Holiday Harmony” concert featuring uplifting vocal selections at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 10 at the First Methodist Church 2123 Forest Ave. in Great Bend.

The Barton Performing Arts Department invites the community to enjoy nostalgic, holiday-themed entertainment at its annual Holiday Concert “A Hometown Holiday” at 7:30 p.m., Dec. 2 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

Barton Community College releases the Community Report each fall. The purpose of this document is to highlight the college’s progress toward meeting its mission in the previous academic year.

The Shafer Art Gallery will unveil its next exhibit “Wendy Tan: A Hidden Kingdom” with a reception at 2 p.m. Nov. 19 in the Gallery, which will feature a short artist talk, comments by the director and light refreshments.

Dynamic aerospace engineer, singer, and the founder of STEMusic LLC. Roy Moye III will be the keynote speaker at the 18th Annual Jack Kilby Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Day (JKSD) from 9:15-10 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

The drought monitor report as of Tuesday, November 1, indicates a continued intensification of drought conditions for Kansas.  In this area, we are in extreme drought with exceptional drought inching closer. 

The Barton Community College Instrumental Music Department will present its fall concert “With Gratitude,” at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
